Your lower back pain can be blamed on to the growing uterus and hormonal changes. This is why it is only natural for a pregnant woman to experience an aching back. Find out the reasons that lead to your aching lower back.
Lower Back pain is commonly reported by pregnant women in early pregnancy. When you conceive your body starts to undergo certain serious changes for sustaining your baby throughout different stages of pregnancy. On an average 80% of pregnant women experience lower back pain as a early sign of pregnancy. Reasons for lower back pain during pregnancy in its early stage:
As the uterus grows, body’s centre of gravity gets shifted in order to adjust to the changes in body. Since centre of gravity is shifted little forward the body now leans slightly back for balancing itself. This poor posture puts strain to muscles and ultimately leads to backbone pain.
Another reason for lower back pain in early pregnancy is extra weight that results from growing baby. Pregnant women naturally want to push their bump forward this put strain on back.
In addition to this, the extra weight that you put on stretch your ligaments and cause pain in lower back however, it is absolutely normal and good for your baby.
Hormonal change during pregnancy is another factor responsible for lower pain. During pregnancy your body starts producing a hormone called relaxin. This hormone loosens the ligaments and joints that attach pelvic bones to your spine. Moreover, pelvic bones also become soft in preparation of delivery i.e. passage of your baby through pelvis.
In early pregnancy, changes in pelvic organs are the main reason for discomfort in lower back pain. They cause pain in either side of lower back especially while walking. Some women also report to have symphysis pubis discomfort which is commonly referred to as pelvic pain. This pain is caused by instability of joints and is experienced in pubic joints in the front area of your pelvis.
Stretching of ligaments around the abdominal area is another reason for lower back pain during early pregnancy. This is a normal phenomenon which is meant for preparing your body for several changes that will occur in the entire process of pregnancy.
Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are amongst the leading causes of lower back pain during early pregnancy. Pregnant women are more prone to urinary tract infections so keep goof hygiene and immediately consult doctor if you suspect urinary tract infection.
