It causes redness, irritation and itchy eyelids along with formation of dandruff-like scales on the lashes of the eyes. An upside to this is that it is not contagious and therefore, does not restrict one from communicating or sitting close to an unaffected person.

Prognosis

If the affected area is regularly cleaned, the signs and symptoms of the medical condition can be controlled and further complications prevented. Proper or adequate eyelid care often does the tricks in taking care of this condition. One must follow such a routine to keep it going for a long time so as to avoid relapses because blepharitis is said to be a chronic condition. However, developing just one episode of the disease does not really signify that you have a lifelong condition.

If your medical condition is caused by an underlying condition such as rosacea or dandruff, treating these conditions can alleviate blepharitis.

Those people who suffer from multiple episodes of blepharitis will experience impossibility in the disappearance of the condition. While it may show signs that it is subsiding, it may not disappear completely. Even after a person gets successful treatment, he/she is said to have relapses that are quite common. Taking time to devote one to paying extra attention to hygiene when suffering from the relapses can help in controlling the condition.
