In order to prevent the occurrence of hyperthyroidism, you should take the following preventive measures:

Monitoring risk of hyperthyroidism


You need to keep yourself monitored if there is a risk of hyperthyroidism in the family. That would involve an examination by your doctor. He would check you for signs of abnormal lumps or their enlargement. Another factor to be examined is the flow of blood around your thyroid gland. This would be done using a stethoscope. Other factors to be taken into consideration for monitoring your condition include tremor of hand, increased heart rate, response to tapping with a hammer, weakness in muscles, protruding eyes and excessive sweating.
