Initials to Avoid When Naming a Baby

While naming baby you must make also take care of the combinations of initials. Middle and last name of your baby is as important as the first name. Wrong combinations of initials can lead to lifetime embarrassment for your kid. Here are some initials that must be avoided while naming a baby:

Avoid Internet Slang

Avoid initials that are similar to the abbreviations of internet slangs.  LOLS (laughing out loud), BRB (be right back), AFK (away from key board) and BTW (by the way) are some of the initials that must be avoided as your child will be using them in their daily conversation. Your kid’s friends may tease him and remind your kid what it actually means.

Sweet and Short Initials

Some parents prefer to give cute and sweet initials to their baby.  However, they fail to realize that such name can be a big challenge for their kid. Initials such as ILU (I love you), PBJ (Peanut Butter and Jelly), PDA (Public Display of Affection) and BLT (Bacon, Lettuce, Tomato) must be avoided.

Television Initials

Abbreviations related to televisions are so popular that we can hardly think that they may stand for anything else. Therefore the initials such as MTV (Music Television), PBS (Public Broadcasting Service) TNT (Turner Network Television), ABC (American Broadcasting Company, BBC (British Broadcasting Company, CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System), CNN (Cable News Network), AMC (American Movie Classics) and TBS (Turner Broadcasting System) must be avoided.

Name of Famous organizations

Initials such as FBI (federal bureau of investigation), CBI (Central bureau of investigation) and CIA (Central intelligence agency) must be avoided.

Name of compounds

Avoid giving your baby initials similar to a chemical compound. A name initial such as TNT (trinitrotoluene) brings in ridicules comments from peer group.  By such name your child might get a nick name such as ‘dynamite’ or ‘explosive’.

Other initials that must be avoided 

Avoid tease-easy initials. For instance, if the arrangement of your baby’s first, middle and last name gives you initials such as FAT, HAT, HAM, RUM and DOG then shuffle them up.  Below mentioned is a list of initials that must be completely avoided when naming a baby:
