Kamasutra brings about a certain thought in people; it sounds like a hurricane of sexual blast, one that will sweep you off your feet into a land of erotic fantasies. There are many stories revolving around the origins of the Kamasutra, and one interesting story revolves around Nandi, who was the doorkeeper of Shiva. According to the story, Nandi had bestowed the secrets of the Kamasutra onto the humankind after he heard god Shiva and his wife, Parvati when they were making love.
Vatsyayana’s role was merely to transcribe and note Kamasutra in Sanskrit for the people, and that is why the existing book is known as Vatsyayana Kamasutra.
Kamasutra was not written as a pornographic source. It is not something to be used only for sexual gratification. Kamasutra is part of a larger collection of ancient Indian text known as the Kama Shastra, which can be translated as The Disciples of Kama, where Kama is referred to as the God of Love. Although, it is a sensuous book, Kamasutra is actually related to the Hindu faith and system.

These stages play out in three distinct stages of a human life. They are, childhood, youth, and old age. Vatsyayana informs us that a person must segregate his life into equal parts so as to experience all that the human life entails. Therefore, a man practices religion, gets wealthy and also experiences carnal pleasures. The trick, however, is that you should not let one take priority over another.
Kamasutra has sixty four love making positions described in it and they are not just ways to give you pleasure. The positions teach people practicing them to be skillful, playful, understanding, refined, sexual, beautiful and intelligent. The book teaches and strengthens yours and your lover’s relationship to a great extent, and informs you to make it a point to pay attention to every inch of your lover's body.
There are sixty four sex positions mentioned in the Kamasutra. While Kamasutra prepares women to be more refined, skillful, playful and beautiful, it allows men to understand the female’s nature and the importance of cultivating sensual moods and intimacy.
