Most of us have registered on different social networking sites in good faith. Either you did it to keep in touch with your friends or you just wanted to stay up-to-date with the trend. Whatever the reason was it is time for you to realize that the small reason has backfired in the form of an addiction. Accept it or not, you cannot spend even a single moment without checking or thinking about your Facebook account.
But, the moment you realize that the addiction is highly hazardous for your life, you begin to look for ways to end it. However, there are chances that you may feel empty-handed while looking for ways on how to end Facebook addiction. But, not to worry! Overcoming social network addiction is no rocket science. With some right guidance you can achieve your goal and can learn once again how it feels to live without Facebook.
At least for a week, keep a track of your activities on Facebook each time you log in. Once you have logged out, ask yourself what you achieved out of this session. This will give you surprising answers and you would begin to realize what a waste of time it was.
Once you have recorded the amount of time you spent on Facebook in the previous week, make a list of things which you could have done in those hours. This will get you face-to-face with reality and you would realize how you had forgone other important things in life only to check if someone had poked you or not. Soon you would understand that you could have taken a part-time job, read a book, taught your kid, or simply gone out for a walk instead of wasting those precious hours on pseudo socializing.
Definitely remembering this wouldn’t be easy for you but, if you really wish to end the addiction you will have to churn your brain a little. Try to recall those days when Facebook had not taken over your life. Probably, you must have been spending those hours outside playing or keeping fit or gone to see some of your really good friends. Remembering these things would make you realize the importance of your time and the necessity of socializing in person.
Once you have realized the significance of other things in your life, it is time for you to deactivate all notifications which you receive on your mails and mobile phone. This will prevent you from distraction.
Be realistic while you are on a mission. When you want to end an addiction you must set your goals in a way that they are achievable. Unrealistic goals can lead to disappointment. Quit for a short period of time and if you do it successfully, you can aim for closing your Facebook account till eternity.
Quitting your addiction of social networking is not a task only if you are high on determination and real life holds more importance than its virtual counterpart.
