How Pets lower Blood Pressure?

Most of us consider diet, exercise and medication as the best options for treatment of hypertension. But in addition to these there are several other alternatives which can help to lower your blood pressure.

According to some psychologists pets can help to control your blood pressure. They say that if you have high blood pressure consider getting a pet, such as a dog, or a cat.  

A study done in people with high blood pressure showed that adopting a pet like a cat or a dog helped to lower stress-related increase in blood pressure. The study showed that people with high blood pressure who did not have a pet continued to have rise in stress-induced blood pressure even while they were on medications---whereas the rise on blood pressure was lower in people with pet (along with medications).

The exact way in which a pet helps to lower blood pressure is not known. But if you have high blood pressure and a stressful life consider adopting a pet----it may help to lower your blood pressure.
