Washing the hair removes normal buildup of dirt, dead skin cells, excess oils produced by the skin cells and the substances that you put in your hair such as hair spray, etc. How often you should wash your hair depends on the type of hair you have, the type of hair care products you use and the amount of pollution you are subjected to.

If you have dry hair, you should wash it only a couple of times a week to help produce natural oils. If you have oily hair, you should wash every alternate day or every day. If you do choose to wash your hair daily, use a mild shampoo.
