Parenting is a tough and demanding job and to compound this there will be people criticising your style and offering their unwanted advice. Read on to know how to deal with the criticism in a constructive way.

  • Do not automatically react negatively to criticism. The person may be actually trying to share some parenting tips.
  • Listen to the person’s suggestion and let him know that your current method is working well. Be confident of your parenting and continue with what you feel is appropriate.
  • Be open to suggestions from your parents; they may have a better idea of how to deal with certain situations.
  • Read books on parenting; these will give you more confidence about your parenting skills and style.

Good parenting doesn’t come to everyone naturally, so you should learn to take criticism. This will help you formulate a plan for more effective parenting in future and remember that no one is a perfect parent.
