Key Ingredients: ¾ teaspoon of crushed black pepper, 1 large lemon’s extract, a pinch of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, ¼ teaspoon of mustard seeds, salt as per taste, 2 cups of water, 1 large green chilli (vertically slit), 2 teaspoon of cumin seeds, a pinch of asafoetida, 5 tablespoons of red gram dal, 1 ½ tablespoon of curry leaves
To begin with, pressure- cook the dal for 15 minutes or so till it turns into a smooth consistency. Next, pour it in a pan and along with all the remaining ingredients, except lemon, bring it to boil. Let it simmer for 5 minutes. Remove it from the flame and squeeze the lemon in it. Next, in a pan, sauté the curry leaves, asafoetida, cumin seeds and mustard in oil till it softens. Add the mixture to it and stir for some time. Let it cool down a bit. Serve.
