Peel treatments are generally done once in two weeks. In a normal peel treatment session, firstly, the skin is cleansed, and the extract is applied. It is then neutralized after a certain time, and after a day or two of neutralization the skin may become dry and exfoliate a little. In case of acne, the skin starts responding from the second or third session and the existing acne start disappearing and newer pimples are less likely to appear. After a peel session some maintenance (a face wash or a medicated cream) might be needed as the person may redevelop acne. Pigmentation on the other hand is more rigid to peel treatment where the epidermal pigmentation clears a lot however some deeper pigmentation is left under the skin, which may require mesotherapy or laser technology to lighten. Peels are effective, though slower in case of anti aging. -Dr. Niketa Sonavane, (Dermatologist, Dr. Niketa's Skin Secrets).
