    Potatoes have been infamous for scoring high on glycemic index. However, a new study from University of California suggests that eating a potato a day does no harm to your weight loss plans as long as a healthy calorie-controlled regimen is followed.

    Cauliflower

    Cauliflower contains only 29 calories per cup. You can blend it into a creamy puree, roast it to taste its nutty flavour or simply eat it as a chopped salad.

    Kale

    This vegetable is a great source of beta carotene, vitamin C and phytochemicals called isothiocyanates that can increase the body’s detoxifying enzymes. You can add it your soup and feel full even after consuming fewer calories.

    Spaghetti Squash

    When you bake this vegetable, it transforms into delicious `noodles’ but, noodles sans calories. Serve spaghetti squash with marinara sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan instead of regular spaghetti. While your cooked pasta contains 200 calories per cup, spaghetti squash has only 42 calories.

    This vegetable is a great source of fiber and contains only 28 calories per cup. Serve them at night and have a complete dose of vitamins A, C and K.

    In place of stuffing your dinner plate with meat loafs put some roasted carrot slices to avoid busting of your waistline. Carrot will minimize your calorie intake and at the same time will make you feel full.
