    How Much Coffee is Too Much Coffee

    In today’s world, many people rely on caffeine to get them through the day. Caffeine is a stimulant that is quickly absorbed by the body and travels to the brain, where it excites the brain and nervous system. It may come from coffee, soda or chocolate. According to the Mayo Clinic, heavy daily caffeine use is defined as more than 500 to 600 mg a day (or about six to eight cups of coffee).     Caffeine excites your nervous system, which puts more pressure on the heart to keep up with this stimulated body state. To accommodate this extra work that your body is doing, the heart rate speeds up.     Whenever you need that kick to make a presentation in the meeting or to study all night for the exams, a cup of coffee is the best thing we could use. And why not, it helps us stay awake and alert. No wonder, having too much of it can interfere with your sleeping pattern. It’s best not to have caffeine shortly before going to bed.     And so, it helps your body get rid of fluids by causing frequent urination. When you get your caffeine fix through a drink like coffee, soda, or tea you are more likely to visit the restroom every once in a while. Huge loss of fluids from body could also lead to dehydration.     Too much caffeine may cause headaches due to the stimulating effects on the brain. The pain could vary in intensity and can be confused with other medical problems.     Not everyone can deal with an increased stimulation in their brain and nervous system that is caused by consuming too much caffeine. This could cause anxiety in people who are unable to deal with caffeine’s effects on body; and in chromic cases, these people may even experience symptoms of depression.     Drinking more than three cups of coffee a day for years can lead to decreased bone density. This means that you will be in a higher risk of developing osteoporosis.     Caffeine increases your blood pressure. The effect is temporary, but if you drink a lot of coffee, it can cause permanent high blood pressure. You can feel the effects of your blood pressure rising by experiencing ringing in your ears and headaches. If you’re having these problems, you might want to think about switching to decaf.     Robs You Off Nutrition

    Children who have too much caffeine may not be getting adequate nutrition for proper growth and development. This is particularly true when a child has caffeinated drinks instead of healthy drinks like water, milk or juice.
