    Drink at least 16 ounces of water before you start your meal. When you have your stomach filled with water, it will naturally reduce the space for food and in turn help you prevent overeating.

    Go for Form-fitting Clothes

    This does not mean that you have to fit into clothes that are too tight. But, wearing a dress which has a waistband or a jacket with buttons can help you slow down the hogging.

    The colour of your plate can have a significant role to play in the amount of food you consume, says a Cornell University study. In this study, the researchers found that when the plate and food on it had a low colour contrast, people served themselves 22 percent more as compared with when there was a higher colour contrast.

    If you increase your time of eating and enjoy your food, you will definitely consume lesser portions. Dim lights and relaxing music increase the time for your leisurely meal. Always chew slowly, put down the fork between bites and sip water to make your meal last longer.

    Sitting down with a full packet of chips leads to consumption of an unaccounted amount of calories. It was discovered by researchers from Cornell University in a study that people ate 50 percent more chips when they were not given any visual cues about the size of their portions.
