    Every new year brings a lot of enthusiasm and joy for everyone. It also brings a golden opportunity to make some resolutions. If you have made a new year resolution to keep yourself healthy and happy without gaining too much weight again, you are about to read some pretty useful information that is meant just for you.     Avoid Processed Food

    New year celebration offers a wide range of unhealthy otherwise delicious processed foods. Such calorie-dense processed foods are among the prime culprits for weight gain and can soon ruin your new year resolution. Processed foods contain a lot more calories per serving than unprocessed foods and can easily add extra pounds. You may be eating small amounts of such foods, but the calories will still be on the higher side. With processed food you will be getting the calories yet not satisfying the hunger.  All you need to do is eat fresh fruits whenever you feel like eating a processed food that you like.     Don’t Diet

    It has been observed that most people are usually more into dieting rather than following a healthful diet plan. If your dieting is your best bet to keep up the new year resolution, you need to rethink on that. Dieting or continuously eating less than enough, only leads to slowing down of the metabolism which allows your body to store fat instead of utilizing it. Dieting with the aim of losing weight may, on the contrary, force you to gain more weight. Dieting should symbolize sticking to a healthy and balanced diet.     Are you an emotional eater? Well, most people who eat more when emotionally disturbed or excited don’t even realize that they are actually into emotional eating. So, before saying no, just analyze your eating behavior, especially when excited, sad or stressed. People usually tend to eat more during depression and anxiety. Chocolate, sweets, and other comfort foods help them fill a void in life or provide some sense of relief from the situation.     Low-Fat Foods

    If you are conscious about your body image or figure, you are likely to already be on the right track of avoiding fat-rich foods. You might already be buying your food items after looking at the low-fat labels; however, there is a catch. The low fat label doesn’t ensure that the food contains less calories. In fact, it may contain as many calories as regular version of the food item. Don’t rely on the label of fat without considering a high amount of calories that the jar or can may contain.     Workout and Sleep

    You need to get more active and burn more calories throughout the day. Indulge in some simple physical activities such as running, swimming or some sport of your choice and once you are done with the day get at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep. When someone does not get ample amount of sleep the body reacts by storing fat. You may not be able to get ample sleep due to work, depression and your busy schedule, however, it can risk your weight loss resolution.     High Fiber Diet

    You may find it surprising, but lack of fiber can also be accounted for weight gain. Fiber not only promotes bowel health, it also gives you a feeling of fullness which makes you eat less and thus avoid possible weight gain. Fiber is essential to lose and maintain healthy weight. Make sure you add more fiber-rich foods to your diet to support your weight loss resolution.     Yes, it’s the beginning of a new year with hopes for things to get better but things may not become easy on you over night. You may still need to encounter difficult situations that may cause you some stress. While a little stress may not be harmful, too much stress can be bad for your health as well as your weight loss plan. Stress causes the body to enter defensive mode.
