Here are some ways in which you can ensure that your child is free of obesity. Obesity that causes many diseases should be eliminated at the very start.

    How to fight Childhood Obesity

    Fighting obesity at childhood is very important, and this is because obesity brings in so many diseases which could make life hard at a very young age. Children become overweight for many reason, some common ones being genetic factors, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns or a combination of all these most times. While you cannot really help the genetic factors, you could change things by taking care of the other factors.

    Staying Active

    Just cut down on all the television, gaming, and indoor inactivity and push them to go out and be active outdoors. Children should play outdoor games, run around in the dirt and be active, and if your child is not doing all this then he or she is not living a normal childhood.

    One of the best things to do is to get your child into sports, get your child signed in some sport that he or she would like to play. Do not force it onto them, but just find out if they would be interested or not. There are very many things to be done other than sports, like dancing or swimming!

    Make sure that you pack your children’s lunch when they are going for lunch, as this will prevent them from buying unhealthy lunch. When you pack their lunch you should ensure that it is full of nutritious items, and this will give you the control over what foods they are eating.

    Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it breaks your fast that you had been on for the entire night. Studies have also shown that by eating breakfast children can focus better and perform better in school.

    It is not really needed for your children to be sipping on soda and sweet juices all the time after every meal. These drinks are one of the biggest causes for obesity both in children and adults, and this is because they are sugar loaded.

    Children are always munching on junk foods such as chips, sweets and various fries. These foods are high on fructose and trans fat, and hence leads to all the fat.

    It is very important that you load your children’s diet with fiber, and this is because fiber is great for their digestive system and keeps their stomach full without adding any calories. Get foods such as lentils, black beans, broccoli, peas, pear, whole wheat pasta, oatmeal and so on.

    Make sure that your children get to eat at least five different fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. It has been found that eating five different types of vegetables and fruits daily can significantly decrease the risk of diseases and other child obesity health risks.

    Now serving healthy foods is a good start, but above all you have to ensure that you are serving the right portions of it too. You should also establish daily meal and snack times, and also eat together whenever possible. This way you can keep a monitor your child’s eating habits.
