Don’t let Dark Elbows and Knees Depress you, use these Remedies

Kneeling on the table or putting your knees on the ground can make dead skin accumulate around these areas. This causes darkening of the skin. Good news is that dark knees can be treated.

    Save yourself the Embarrassment

    Each time you hit the parlour for manicure or pedicure, you are worried that the parlour guy will have a hard time scrubbing the knees and elbows. While the problem of dark knees and elbows is solved temporarily, you see a need to visit the parlour in the next 15 days to get them cleaned again. Till you find the time to visit the parlour again, embarrassment of wearing above the knee skirts or a sleeveless top can haunt you day and night.

    But, don’t you worry! Some home remedies can solve all your troubles and give you glowing knees and elbows.

    Baking Soda

    Baking soda is one of the most effective remedies to clean dark knees and elbows. It bleaches and removes dead skin accumulated on these areas. Add one tablespoonful of baking soda to milk and apply the paste on the knees and elbows. Scrub it in a circular motion and repeat this for at least once in 2 days.

    Turmeric, Honey, and Milk

    While turmeric has antiseptic properties, milk works as a bleach and honey provides moisture to the skin. Make a paste by mixing all these ingredients together and applying it on the area. Leave it on for at least 20 minutes.

    Sugar and Olive Oil

    Sugar works as an exfoliating agent and olive oil moisturizes the skin. Make a thick paste and rub the area with this paste for 5 minutes.

    Lemon and Honey

    Lemon is a natural bleach and honey nourishes the skin, preventing skin darkening. Mix lemon juice with one tablespoonful of honey and apply it on the affected area. Let it remain for 20 minutes before rinsing it off.

    Olive Oil

    This oil can soften the skin and give it a glow. Warm some olive oil and rub it on your knees and elbows every day for 10 minutes.

    Exfoliating Brush

    An exfoliating brush or a loofah can remove the dead skin cells from the knee and elbow. Always use an exfoliating brush when you take bath and scrub these areas in circular motion.

    Cocoa and Shea Butter

    Both of these contain natural fats and can be soothing moisturizers for the skin. Apply cocoa and shea butter on the dark area of the skin every night before going to sleep.

    Aloe Vera Gel

    The damage caused to the skin on elbows and knees can be reduced by applying aloe vera gel. It moisturizes the skin and fights dryness.

    Gram Flour and Lemon

    Gram flour can exfoliate the dark area and lemon juice can bleach the skin. Add little lemon juice to gram flour and make a mixture. Apply it in a circular motion and let it dry.
