Sinuses may be a discomforting problem that may often leave you irritated. But, you can always try some effective home remedies before you try antibiotics.

    Allergy-proof your Room

    Allergies usually trigger or make sinus pain worse. Keep allergies out of your room by taking proper measures such as fresh dust covers on your pillows and avoid pet danger. Image courtesy: Getty

    Eat Spicy Foods

    Spicy foods such as hot peppers, curry, mustard, horseradish, and wasabi may help clear your nasal passages which can provide quick relief from your sinus problem. However, make sure you don't overdo it. Image courtesy: Getty

    Try Bromelain

    Bromelain is a protein found in pineapple stems that has been used by athletes and fighters to reduce swelling for years. Consult your doctor about using bromelain to relieve your sinuses as it may help speed up recovery of acute sinusitis. Image courtesy: Getty

    Steam

    Hot water vapours can help moisten the sinuses providing quick relief.  Add a few drops of eucalyptus or menthol oil in the shower and inhale the steams. A hot shower or bath will also help to loosen up the debris and mucus inside your nose. Image courtesy: Getty

    Flush the Nasal Passages

    Standing Forward Pose

    Yoga can help you a lot with your sinuses. To begin with, stand straight with feet at hip distance apart and slowly raise your arms above your head while you inhale. Now bend from the waist and reach down as far below as you can while exhaling. Hold the position for as long as you can. Image courtesy: Getty

    Downward-facing Dog

    You can also perform the downward-facing dog pose every day to ease your sinuses. To perform this pose, bend forward from the waist and place your hands on the floor right below the shoulders. Now move your feet back as long you can maintain your heels on the ground. Now hold your weight on your hands and heels while you drop your head trying to look at your feet.     Wide-legged Forward Bend

    This pose is also very effective at providing relief from sinuses. Stand with the feet at shoulder-width and raise your arms up above your head while you inhale. Now slowly bend from the waist while you exhale. Reach as down below as you can and hold the position for a while. Image courtesy: Getty

    Visit your Doctor
