Happy birthday Sania Mirza: The tennis sensation turns 30 today
Happy birthday, Sania!
Happy birthday, Sania! Our beloved tennis star turned 30 today and woke up to this lovely gesture.
Started playing at mere 6 years of age, Sania Mirza was coached by both her father and Roger Anderson. The racquet lass turned a pro after winning a bronze medal in the mixed doubles event of the 2002 Asian Games in Busan 2003; this was the game where she partnered Leander Paes. Then she won 4 gold medals 2003 Afro-Asian Games in Hyderabad. After giving a triumphant 2005 season, she was named the WTA Newcomer of the Year but as destined; Mirza grew out of ‘newcomer title’ with more wins.
Sweats and struggles
All the trophies, all the titles and all the wins did not come easy, rather at a huge cost. Mirza suffered a right wrist injury that made her pull out of Sony Ericsson Open, the Family Circle Cup, the BNP Paribas Open and 2010 French Open. She has her own share of lost matches too but did that stop her, no, it did not. The star player never compromises on her daily workout routine. She works out four times a week.
Her happily ever after
This cute picture that Shoaib Malik shared on his Instagram profile shows that indeed fairytales are for real. After her wedding with Sohrab Mirza was called off, 2010 was the year when she met her soul mate, the Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik. The wedding became a controversial affair after Malik was accused of being already married. The ride was bumpy initially but now the adorable couple is enjoying a happy married life.
The diva off the court
The tennis sensation looks stunning in this Amit Aggarwal creation that she wore for Koffee with Karan. Off the court, Mirza wooed both Karan and the audience with her wit and sarcasm. So, ultimately she is the real ‘beauty with brains’.
Knows her style all too well
Sania Mirza is best known for her wit and sarcasm but her style is another persona that distinguishes her. See, how stylishly she pulls off these round framed glasses. Sania has got a rustic beauty that she manages to flaunt in every style, be it an Indian wear, be it an uber-western wear, she nails it all.
