    Gram Flour (Besan) for Skin

    Spending time outside in the sun and amidst environmental pollutants can cause several types of skin damage. The damage can take the form of freckles, spots, discolorations or change in complexion. Gram flour or besan has been used for long owing to benefits for both health and beauty. It can be used in its raw form and can also be combined with a variety of ingredients for skin care.

    Dry Skin

    Besan can be used for cleansing on all types of skin. You can make a face pack with besan, milk cream, honey and a pinch of turmeric. These ingredients help in maintaining moisture levels of the skin and to avoid dryness. Use this paste regularly on the face to get rid of dryness.

    Oily Skin

    Just how gram flour helps treat skin dryness, homemade packs made of besan are excellent for oily skin as they can absorb and remove excess oil. Combine besan with rose water. Apply the paste on the face and let it sit for an hour before washing it off. Another way you can make gram flour pack for oily skin is by mixing besan, curd or milk cream together. Apply the paste on the face and let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing it.

    Pimple Prone Skin

    If your skin is prone to pimple and breakouts, you can turn to gram flour. It is always better to go for natural ingredients as the skin is sensitive. Combine 2 teaspoonfuls of gram flour, 1 teaspoonful of milk and a pinch of turmeric powder to make a paste. Apply the paste all over the face. After it dries, wash it off with cool water.

    Tanned Skin

    Gram flour is quite effective on tanned skin as it can remove dead skin cells and restore skin’s brightness. To get rid of unsightly tans, mix 4 teaspoonfuls of besan, 1 teaspoonful of lemon, 1 teaspoonful of yoghurt and a pinch of turmeric. Apply the paste on the tanned areas of the skin. After the paste dries, wash it off with cool water. Repeat the practice daily to get rid of tans completely.

    Darkened Skin

    Prolonged exposure to sunlight and pollution can darken your skin. Gram flour in combination with lemon juice makes an effective remedy for darkened skin. Mix 4 teaspoonfuls of besan, 1 teaspoonful of milk and 1 teaspoonful of lemon. Apply the mixture all over your face in circular motion and wash it off with cool water after it dries. Repeat this procedure thrice a week for best results.

    Skin with Blemishes

    If you are thinking to get rid of ugly blemishes the natural way, you can do it with gram flour. Mix 2 tablespoonfuls of besan with 1 teaspoonful of cucumber juice. Apply the paste on the affected area and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Wash it off with cold water. For blemish-free skin, repeat the procedure twice a week.

    Skin with Open Pores

    You can make a paste out of besan and water for tightening the pores on the skin. For better results, you can mix it with cucumber juice or rose water. Apply the mixture on cleansed skin and leave it on for about an hour. Wash it off with cold water. Do this at for least thrice a week to see noticeable results.
