Technology is intended to make our lives easier, but if you don’t get a handle on your digital life, it can become a stressful affair. Here’s how to keep technology-induced stress at bay.
  • 1

    Make use of filters

E-mails can make your heart skip a beat and give you stress! Do you feel uneasy with email notifications? It is time to make use of the filter option. Consider filtering out everything except urgent messages (such as email from the boss) to make it easier for you.

  • 2

    Switch it off

Stress caused by technology is one of the common reasons for depression now-a-days. Don’t let stress consume you. When you feel stressed, try closing your browser, social networking sites and email options. Turning technology off for some time can make you breathe easy and reduce tension.

  • 3

    Block yourself from Facebook

If it is Facebook that is troubling you, you can try deactivating your account for some time. Getting off Facebook can do wonders to your confidence and self-esteem. Or you can block/delete the source of the negative vibes.

  • 4

    Let go of things

You love your Twitter handle and Facebook account, and cannot think of a life without them. Well, you need to accept that it has to be gotten rid of if it is driving you nuts. It’s not possible to keep track of absolutely everything happening in the world, so you should also let go of it.

  • 5

    Sleep soundly

Gadgets can interfere with your ability to fall and stay asleep. Stop working on your computer or phone a few hours before you hit the sack. A better way to unwind before snoozing is to pick up a book (hard-copy) or magazine.

  • 6

    Take a day off

How technology usage causes brain stress is a cause of concern and should not go unchecked. The first thing you should do on a day off is ditch the digital world and leave the phone at home. Disconnect with all that you need to take an off from. Stop worrying about anything else and enjoy a gadget-free time.

  • 7

    Practice mindfulness

Mindfulness has a lot of significance in our busy lives. Meditation is one way you can unchain yourself from the world. So, sit/stand in a comfortable position, pay attention to the breath and when your attention wanders, return. That’s all!

    Use Mozart as medicine

When people are stressed, they may build a tendency to avoid listening to music actively. However, this might be the trick to a happy world that they have been missing. Plug in your earphones and listen to whatever genre or tracks you like!
