    Dark spots are also known as freckles, sunspots and age related spots. These spots could be caused by excessive exposure to the sun or pollution and chemicals used in beauty products. Most of us have some or the other kind of dark spot. Some people have smaller and lesser visible spots while others have bigger and highly visible dark spots.     Lemon Juice

    Lemon juice has natural acidic property which makes it an organic bleaching agent that helps in lightening dark spots. The bleaching property of lemon helps you get rid of any kind of spots. Squeeze out some juice from a lemon and apply it directly to the dark areas of your skin with a cotton ball. Let it dry for half an hour and then rinse off with cold water.     Butter Milk

    Lactic acid present in buttermilk is considered to be good for the skin. Apply buttermilk on the brown spots with the help of a cotton swab. Leave it on for a few minutes and then wash it off with water. If you have oily skin, you can add lemon to the buttermilk before applying. Try this on a regular basis for effective results.     Yoghurt helps you lighten brown spots in a very natural way. Take plain yogurt and apply it directly on the spot. Let it dry for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. For instant results, apply yogurt on the dark spots before you sleep and leave it overnight. You may also make a face pack by mixing 1 tablespoonful of plain yogurt, 2 tablespoonful of oatmeal powder and 1 tablespoonful of fresh lemon juice.     Aloe Vera

    Aloe vera is one of the most effective remedies for treating skin stings, burns and spots. It acts as a lubricant which nourishes rashes and blackheads. Rub fresh aloe vera gel on the dark spots and allow it to stay for about 45 minutes. You may then wash it off with cold water. Repeat this procedure for twice a day for about one month.     Castor Oil

    Another effective remedy for dark spots is castor oil. It is known to have strong healing properties that can remove dark spots very effectively.     Sandalwood is known to be one of the best antiseptics as it acts as an anti-ageing agent. Prepare a pack from sandalwood powder, glycerine, rose water and lemon juice. Apply this homemade recipe on the brown spots and let it dry for some time. Wash it off with cold water.     Papaya has certain enzymes that remove skin blemishes, age spots and acne. Rub grated fresh raw papaya on the dark brown spots. Allow it to stay for about 20 minutes and later rinse the affected skin with lukewarm water. It will make your skin look cleaner and brighter.
