7 Ways of using vinegar for healthier skin and hair

    It has been believed for long that vinegar—apple cider vinegar, to be exact— helps you lose weight. Alas, that isn’t true. But mourn no more because it can help you step up your beauty routine. Yes, this multi-tasking ingredient can be used to prevent acne and make nail polish last longer, and that's just the beginning. Check out all of the ways in which apple cider vinegar can help you look your best—from speeding up healing of sunburn to tightening and toning your skin.

    Skin soother

    Mix one cup apple cider vinegar to a bathtub filled with lukewarm water and soak in it for 15 minutes. The pH level of apple cider vinegar will restore balance of your skin.

    Facial toner

    Mix one tablespoonful of apple cider vinegar in two cupfuls of water. Now dip a cotton ball in this mixture and swipe it over a clean, dry face to tighten it. Don't rinse , as it will cause the scent to dissipate quickly. Apple cider vinegar contains natural alpha-hydroxy acids and acetic acid that help stimulate circulation and minimize pores.

    Hair rinse

    Add two tablespoonfuls of apple cider vinegar in one cup water, and use it to douse your hair after washing. Rinse thoroughly and follow with a light conditioner. The acetic acid in apple cider vinegar will remove residue from product buildup and help you get shiny, lustrous locks.

    Sunburn relief

    Mix  1/2 cup apple cider vinegar into 4 cups water. Douse clean washcloth in the the solution, and apply on the affected area.  As discussed above, apple cider vinegar helps balance pH levels of skin thereby, it helps promote healing, and prevent blistering.

    Razor bump remedy

    Dip a cotton ball with undiluted apple cider vinegar, and swipe it over the affected area. If you have aggravated bumps, you can try applying a light layer of honey to the area first, let stand for 5-10 minutes, then rinse, dry, and apply the vinegar. The anti-inflammatory properties of apple cider vinegar help soothe irritated skin whereas acetic acid helps soften the skin to help ingrown hairs grow out more easily.
