7 Drugs that can be killing your sex drive

While few drugs are popularly used to perform better between the sheets, there are some medicines that can kill your sex drive. Here is a list of the major culprits.

    There are many drugs that are popular for improving sex life. But, did you know that there also are some drugs that can crash your libido like a jetliner? If you cannot figure out any other reason behind your reduced sex drive, the culprit might be sitting in your medicine cabinet. Here are some medicines that you must stop taking at the earliest for a better sex life.

    Tricyclic antidepressants

    Tricyclic antidepressants may not be used often. But, there are some doctors who prescribe them to treat not only depression, but also nerve pain. Sadly, these drugs can have negative influence on your libido.

    Birth control pills

    Oral contraceptive pills can be responsible for lowering production of the crucial sex hormone testosterone, and can decrease the sex hormone level, causing reduction in libido and sex drive.

    Proscar

    Proscar can often be used to treat enlarged prostate. However, it’s one of the active ingredients called finasteride, which prevents testosterone from converting into its active form. A lower testosterone level leads to lower libido.

    Propecia

    Though similar to Proscar, Propecia is used in lower doses to prevent conditions like hair loss in men. The ingredients of Propecia are same as in Proscar, which means the culprit is the same chemical, finasteride, which causes loss of libido in men.

    Easily available over-the-counter medication, Antihistamines are prescribed to treat allergies. But, it can also temporarily affect your sex life. The only possible solution to ward off this side-effect is to be careful about the timing of taking the drug.

    Though marijuana is not widely available for medical purposes, even its small dosage can have a significant negative effect on your ability to perform and on your libido.
