    Cherry Vanilla Smoothie

    Blend 1 cup apple juice or cider, 1/2 cup low-fat vanilla yogurt, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 cups frozen pitted cherries together to for an all-time favourite swwwt-tart smoothie.     Pineapple Horchata

    In a blender, combine rice, cinnamon sticks and star anise with 4 cups water. Pulse to blend. Transfer to a large bowl and add another 4 cups water. Soak at room temperature for 4 hours. Return mix to blender and blend until smooth. Run throught a fine sieve into a pitcher. Add pineapple juice, stir to combine. Add sugar and chill.  Serve over ice with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.     Frozen Slushie

    Seal the canned fruit packed in heavy peach or pineapple syrup in a zip-lock bag and place the bag in the freezer. When the kids are hot and thirsty, submerge the bag in a bowl of hot tap water until the fruit is slightly thawed (about a minute). Pour the syrup into a food processor and slide the frozen fruit onto a cutting board. Chop the fruit into small chunks and put them in the food processor. Blend the fruit and syrup until smooth, from 30 seconds to 2 1/2 minutes, depending on the type of fruit. Serve immediately. Makes 4 half-cup servings. Image Courtesy- FamilyFun Magazine

    Limeberry Crush

    In a blender, combine strawberries, crushed ice, confectioners' sugar, and lime juice. Blend the mixture until smooth, then serve immediately.     Peanut Butter Blast

    For each shake, mix the milk, peanut butter, and maple syrup or honey in a blender for several seconds, until smooth. Add the ice cream and pulse until just combined.     Perfect Fruit Punch

    Purple Mango Smoothie

    Mango, one of the world's most popular fruits (and a vitamin C powerhouse), is finally getting its due stateside and makes a great smoothie. Some grocery stores now sell it chopped and frozen, so you don't have to wrestle with cutting it fresh.     Lemon Juice Juleps

    Combine water, lemon juice, sugar, and mint sprigs in a medium glass bowl. Let the mixture set for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid into a serving pitcher and pour in the ginger ale.     Shake with a Twist

    Cool off the summer heat with a tall, frosty treat that takes the traditional chocolate shake to tasty new heights. Combine 1/2 cup milk, 2 scoops chocolate ice cream, 3 tablespoons chocolate syrup, and 1/8 teaspoon peppermint or orange extract in a  blender and mix on high for about 8 seconds or until the ingredients are evenly combined, then pour into a tall glass.
