Here are some things that you can do to relieve pain and itching after you have been bitten by an insect. These remedies will also prevent infection from a bite or sting.     Lemon

    The anti-inflammatory and anaesthetic properties of lemon prove effective in treating mosquito bites. Cut a lemon into two pieces and rub the inside of it against your itchy skin for immediate relief or you may also apply lemon juice to the bites.(Images source:Gettyimages.in)

    Minced Onion or Garlic

    Onion and garlic can be used to soothe itching caused by bug bites. Apply minced garlic or onion directly onto the affected area, leave it on for a minutes before washing it off.(Images source:Gettyimages.in)

    Baking Soda

    Baking soda is alkaline in nature and therefore, neutralizes the pH of the skin and stops the itchiness. Dissolve a spoonful of baking soda in a cupful of water. Using a cloth, apply the mixture over the affected skin area for 10 to 20 minutes.     Aloe vera, a natural antiseptic agent, makes an excellent remedy for mosquito bites. Rub aloe extract directly onto the affected site to reduce pain, swelling and itching. If you do not have an aloe vera plant, aloe vera gel that is readily available in departmental stores can be used.
