Question:  Should I shave off my head?  I have heard that it will help me get thicker hair and new hair growth?  Is this true?

Yes, the new growth of hair after shaving is always better, as is noticed on the legs and arms or elsewhere. It is the circulatory stimulation of the scalp that does the trick.
