Facts to Help You Get PregnantIf you’ve decided to get pregnant or have been trying to get pregnant for years only to find your efforts futile, you need to know the basic pregnancy facts to conceive successfully. You must know the process of pregnancy, how it works, timing sex according to ovulation and several other factors to get pregnant.

Mentioned below are some basic facts that will help you achieve a positive result in your next pregnancy test.

Understanding Monthly Cycle: You need to understand your fertility cycle to figure out the period when you will be most fertile for conception. During the cycle, the body releases hormones to stimulate eggs to grow within follicles within ovaries. Between 7 and 11 day of the cycle, hormones thicken uterus lining for the implantation of an egg. Women are most fertile just before and during ovulation.

Ovulation Process: The time between 10 and 16 days before the next period is considered the most suitable time for ovulation. The period may vary slightly. Monthly cycle of every woman varies; you can also determine the ovulation day with the help of an ovulation calculator.

Foods to Help Ovulation: Monounsaturated fats such as olive oil, vegetable protein such as soy, high-fibre foods such as whole grains, vegetables and fruits boost ovulation.

Lookout for Signs:
Pregnancy may be unplanned as well. Therefore, look for signs such as missing a period, frequent urination, fatigue, nausea and tenderness of breasts.

Age Factor:
Fertility of a woman begins to decline beyond the age of 30. Besides fertility, the chances of having a healthy pregnancy also drops significantly after surpassing 30 years of age. The age factor applies to men as well as their sperm count and motility decreases due to aging.

Boosting Fertility of Men: Male fertility can be enhanced with stress management, abstaining from alcohol/tobacco, maintaining weight along with the incorporation of zinc, selenium and vitamin E in diet. Meat, whole grains, seafood, eggs, mushroom, cereals etc are recommended foods to boost male fertility.

Infertility Treatment: If you’re unable to conceive after repeated efforts, go for fertility examination along with your partner. There are innumerable infertility treatments that include fertility medications to stimulate ovulation and in vitro fertilisation. Infertility treatments remove eggs from the ovaries, fertilise these and implant the same in the uterus. Moreover, it is recommended to keep the testicles cool and avoiding hot baths to maintain the sperm count.

Checking Pregnancy at Home:
To check whether you are pregnant, you may grab a pregnancy detection kit from a medical store. Easy-to-use kits determine hCG levels and ascertain that if you're pregnant as early as six days before missing first missed period. The test needs to be repeated few days or a week later as one may get a negative result in the first attempt.
