Pregnancy is one of the best phases in a woman's life. However, for some, infertility snatches away the amazing experience of being a mother. While there are several ways to prepare for pregnancy including having a nutrient-dense fertility diet, there are several other things that you can do or avoid to reduce risk of infertility. Here are the dos and don'ts of increasing fertility.

dos and donts of improving fertility

Dos

Communicate with your partner and family

If you are at risk of infertility, the most important thing to do is to keep your partner or family in the loop. Talk to them and share every concern with them regarding your fertility.

Eat fresh fruits and vegetables

One of the best ways to enhance your fertility is to follow a nutrition-rich diet. Eat more of fresh foods and vegetables and avoid foods that are high in calories or cholesterol. While there is no conclusive connection between infertility and unhealthy food habits, eating a healthy and balanced diet is good for your overall health including fertility.

Prenatal multivitamins

If the diet fails to meet your nutritional requirements, consult your doctor or nutrition expert to recommend you to take prenatal multivitamins. Meeting the daily requirement of all minerals and vitamins will keep the risk of infertility to a minimum.

Get more fats

Your body needs more fats to keep yourself pumped up for getting pregnant. Eat a diet rich in healthy fats from natural sources. However, do not forget to consult your nutrition expert or doctor about any change in diet.

Don'ts

Don't wait to see your doctor

If you experience any changes or suspect symptoms of any medical condition, don't ignore it. See your doctor as soon as possible if you fear or experience something that might put you at risk of infertility. Several medical conditions as well as some medications when taken over a period of time can result in infertility.

Don't blame yourself

If there is one thing that you must never do at any cost is put blame on yourself for an increasing risk of infertility. After all, stress only raises risk of infertility. Talk to your family and doctor and keep yourself focused on minimising risks of infertility.

Several cups of coffee

Coffee is considered unsuitable for fertility, especially when someone is at risk of infertility. Keep your daily coffee intake to under two cups only.

Eating soy frequently

Soy has the ability to mimic estrogen in the body. Therefore, avoid eating soy if you are planning to conceive soon.

Taking refined sugar

Avoid taking refined sugar as it may affect your blood pressure, which in turn can have a negative impact on your fertility.

Genetically Mutated crops

Some researchers have suggested that genetically mutated crops such as soy and corn can have negative impact on the fertility of a person. Avoid GM crops to minimize your risk of infertility.

Just follow these dos and don'ts to keep infertility at bay and with some care and precaution, you can prevent harm to your ability to conceive.
