The world of celebrity relationships can look just as glamorous and perfect as the lives of the roles the actors play on screen but in many cases, they are just as crazy and complicated as the relationships that the rest of us are in. 2014 saw a number of stars fall in love. While some of the relationships culminated in engagement or marriage, others fizzled out in no time.
Salman Khan and Jacqueline Fernandes
The most eligible bachelor of Bollywood, actor Salman Khan, has fuelled rumours about his love life yet again after a media daily reported that the actor is 'more than friends' with on-screen ladylove Jacqueline Fernandez. He was spotted dropping in on a friend in the wee hours accompanied by Jacqueline.
Indian batsman Virat Kohli and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma who is riding high on the success of her film PK, have confirmed their relationship. They have said that they are seeing each other and their privacy should be respected. "It is out in the open. We are not hiding anything. But if you get repeatedly asked on the same thing and if it is made a matter of debate, then both the individuals don't feel it is right," Kohli said at the launch of his fashion line in Mumbai.
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello
Shortly after ending her engagement with Nick Loeb, Sofia found love in Joe. The too-hot-to-be-true couple may be dating only since a few months but he's already got the nod of approval from Sofia's family. Is there a happily ever after on the cards? We will have to wait and watch.
George and Amal Clooney
Following a seven-month-long whirlwind romance, Hollywood's most eligible actor George tied the knot with human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in Venice this September. The duo met at a charity fundraiser event and she initially refused to give him her number. The couple had an intimate ceremony in Italy with close family and friends present. Shortly after, Amal changed her last name to Clooney.
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden
One of the most surprising hook-ups of the year was when Cameron got together with Good Charlotte rocker Benji. The duo was spotted out together in May and June but no one thought it would turn into anything serious. A few days back, Cameron was spotted flashing a diamond sparkler on her left hand and sources confirm that the duo are officially engaged and set to marry next spring.
Bipasha Basu and Harman Baweja
The sultry siren was reportedly seeing actor Harman Baweja, who made his debut in the 2008-film "Love Story 2050". However, according to several stories doing the rounds in the media, Bipasha Basu and Harman Baweja broke up due to infidelity. While some reports suggested that Bipasha caught Harman red handed with a foreign model, others said it was Bipasha's proximity to her "Alone" co-star that caused problems in the relationship.
Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor
Let us turn your focus to Alia’s rumoured link-up with her ‘2 States’ co-actor Arjun Kapoor. It has been a long while since the gossip mills have been abuzz with the news of this petite actress seeing Arjun. There have been talks about Alia bonding big time with Arjun’a sister Anshula too. But Alia has been treating the rumours the way they are generally treated by any actor (cue: denial). Arjun is said to be dating his “Tevar” co-star Sonakshi Sinha these days.
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin
Post his "conscious uncoupling" from wife Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris got together with JLaw. The duo caught up over romantic dates and she was seen backstage at a few Coldplay concerts supporting her love. However, neither of them confirmed the relationship and by October end it seemed to be over.
Nargis Fakhri and Uday Chopra
Though the couple never acknowledged their relationship in public, Uday often indulged in PDA and teasing with Nargis over the social media. Nargis was snapped with Uday during Yash Chopra's last rites and later on an exotic holiday. However, according to a leading tabloid, the couple broke up over long-distance relationship and commitment issues. It is being said that while Nargis was unable to cope with long-distance relationship and wants to focus on her career, Uday seeks commitment.
While these relationships started off scandalous, some of these celebrity couples have weathered the storm and kept their lasting love alive while others chose to take the alternate route. Whatever their choices have been, we love our favourites regardless.
