In order to maintain a blemish free skin you need to maintain it. The best way to maintain a healthy normal skin is doing it naturally. The Ayurvedic remedy for skin care includes different treatment with herbs or some formulations for different skin types. There are three skin types – normal, dry and oily.


Ayurveda for Normal Skin

The Ayurvedic herbs and oils needed for maintaining the normal skin includes –

  • Sweet Almond Oil
  • Grape Seed
  • Rosemary
  • Lavender
  • Soy
  • Chamomile
  • Camphor
  • Cypress
  • Rose


Ayurveda for Dry Skin

  • Calendula
  • Jasmine
  • Carrot Seed

You need to have different skin treatment if you have a skin type which does not fall under the abovementioned broad categories. Other than that you may be suffering from certain skin conditions which require special type of treatment which can help it. For example, there can be a situation where in the skin on forehead, nose and chin is oily while on other body parts, it is dry and prone to wither. Jojoba, sweet orange, rosewood and apricot work best for such skin types. If the pores of your skin are too large, the best Ayurvedic remedies are mint, basil, lime, tea tree oil, hazelnut, coriander and grape seed.

Ayurvedic Treatment for Sensitive Skin Types

Many people have very sensitive skin. Redness, irritation and rashes are some of the common symptoms of a sensitive skin. The natural treatment for such skin types in Ayurveda includes herbs and oils such as –

  • Sesame
  • Jasmine
  • Calendula
  • Jojoba
  • Carrot
  • Almond
  • Rose
  • Aloe Vera

The Ayurvedic treatment of skin types identifies them as one characterised by dosha of vata, pitta and kapha. The vata type skin is dry and prone to wither soon. The pitta skin type loses its natural lustre and radiance easily and the kapha skin type is the oily type.
Shatavari root, Hibiscus flowers, and Vithari root powder are used for treatment of skin with Vata dosh.

Cooling herbs such as turmeric, Neem, cucumber, manjistha, ghee, khus, coconut, rose, and sandalwood are useful for Pitta dosh in skin as it has a hot property.

Aloe vera, lotus petals, sage leaf, rose petals and others are the herbs for Ayurvedic treatment of Kapha type skin.
