Aloe vera, also referred to as Barbados aloe or only aloe, is a plant with medicinal properties that helps skin become smoother and radiant. The anti-oxidant properties soften dead skin cells and remove them. Aloe vera not only helps skin's cell renewal process but betters skin’s capacity to retain moisture.
Aloe vera extract has plethora of benefits for skin and hair; it has become a principle ingredient of most beauty products. Besides, the extract has been used to heal cuts and wounds.
Aloe vera extract is being used in moisturising products. It is ideal for those with oily skin, as it doesn’t make skin greasy. Women who use mineral-based make-up can use aloe vera as a moisturiser to prevent skin from dryness.
Aloe vera has powerful healing properties to treat sunburn at the epithelial level of the skin. The application of the herbal extract acts as a protective layer on the skin which helps replenish moisture while its anti-oxidant properties catalyse healing process.
Aloe vera has two compounds (Auxin and Gibberellins) which have wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties. These reduce skin inflammation besides stimulating the growth of new cells, allowing the skin to heal quickly and naturally with minimal scarring.
Aloe leaves have antioxidants such as beta carotene, vitamin C and E that help skin maintain elasticity. Therefore, you can use aloe vera to improve the skin's natural firmness and keep the skin hydrated.
Mix half a teaspoon of turmeric, a teaspoon of honey, a teaspoon of milk and few drops of rose water. Add the aloe vera extract to the paste and mix it well. Now apply the paste on to the face and neck. Keep it for 20 minutes before washing it off with cold water. Pat dry with a clean towel.
Combine aloe extract with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the paste on the affected area and leave it on for 15 minutes. Wash it off with cold water and pat dry.
Combine aloe vera extract and rose water. Apply the mixture on face and keep it for at least 15 minutes. Wash face with cold water and pat dry.
